Here I am!

Ok, I have been tagged. I guess that means I should tell you stuff about me.

this is how it works: Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged need to write on their own blog those 7 facts as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

1. I am the eldest of eight children and we were all home schooled. I love to go to my mums house and play (with mum and with my younger siblings). We all love to make things in varying degrees.

2. I love the taste of pink (ice-cream, lollies, fairy floss, etc).

3. I love to make costumes and go to see favourite movies all dressed up (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean).

4. I can't stand swimming and pools. I don't think its fun. I only ever enter a pool if it is so hot I am melting.

5. I don't know how to play chess - and I am proud of it!

6. I prefer staying home over everything else. I hate going out to dinner and just going out in general. I like it when my bloke gets take away so we can eat in - at home!.

7. Computers out number the people in my house two to one.

After doing this I discovered that I am terribly boring and I couldn't think of anything to write.

I can felt!

Felting is something I have waned to try for a while. I bough books about felting and read hundreds of articles on the internet about felting. I thought I knew how to go about doing it, but I was a bit scared (why I don't know). Last week my mum and I went over to a spinning/knitting friends of ours house who also wanted to learn to felt and we did it! We had great fun with bubble wrap and detergent, hot water and cold water, squishing and rolling and whacking (thats how mum saw people do it on Hamish MacBeth). After a few goes we found out what worked best and decided we had so much fun that we should do it again the next week. I of course couldn't wait that long so I had another go on my own using bamboo mats. Here is my felt.

Baa baa brown sheep . . .

. . . and some weird grey/blue/pink stuff my sister gave to me to spin (I made it into a pouch).

I have gone litlle pouch crazy recently and this has been helped along by a recent trip to the fabric shop to buy hundreds of zips. Well, perhaps not hundreds.

He can gobble up all your little things.

This is the second bag I made with this pattern. I originally designed it as an "oh quick, I need another bag" pattern. I made it and loved it so I am making more for my Etsy shop. We will see if anyone loves them as much as I do.

Lots of sewn stuff

I have recently been discovering how much 'finished stuff' I have in my house taking up space. I love lots of it desperately and would never part with it, but some of it I could let go of. I need to get myself organised and put all the extras on my Etsy.

This is a cute little bird I made while at my mothers house one day . . .

. . . and here is a giraffe I made from the leftovers of a printed fabric I made curtains from . . .

. . . this is the contents of my side table next to my comfy chair . . .

. . . and here is a little pile of finished toys sitting next to my bag of stuffing . . .

. . . here is one corner of my very messy sewing table with my favourite 'grey dude' on it . . .

. . . a shelf of stuff . . .

. . . and more stuff. Those photos made my house look quite messy. Well, I guess it is a bit messy, but I promise its all 'creative' mess.

Something else exciting is my mum is a blogger now too! Her current post is a very enjoyable one to read (great crafty pics). So if you are reading this (me imagining that people read my blog), go and have a look!

Swap goodness!

I participated in my first craft swap over at craftster . . . and I got my One Tiny Thing yesterday. My partner pjmclnj sent me a great ATC. I love it.

Hopefully it will be the first of many ATC I will collect and make.

I exist!

Something very exciting happened to me today. My Mum googled me . . . and she found me. Not only my blog but my Etsy shop too. I was so excited. It is nice to know that I exist in the world of google. I was so excited in fact that as soon as I was off the phone from her I raced to my computer and googled myself. I hope this doesn't sound terribly self centred, but I really wanted to be able to find myself on google . . . and I did. Not only did I find my blog and my Etsy shop, I also found my wist page (I just got one, you can bookmark all your favourite pictures). I now have a renewed sense of internetty self and I needed to blog about it. I also have some pictures to share.

This is more school stuff, fashion illustration with fabric and knitting. The best kind. My goodness, do I really use this many pairs of scissors at once?

Another picture of Tanooki Mario . . . finished this time (though you can't see his tail in this picture, the most exciting part I think).

My mum and I decided to have a quilt making day and this is what I made. I never thought I would make one of these 'scrappy' quilts, but it was soo quick to put together I may be converted. It now sits on my couch as the "oh quick, I'm cold" quilt. It is made of flannel with wool wadding so is very warm.

A closer pic.

An even closer pic.

Ok, ok. I haven't finished my red cardigan. I know I was going to concentrate on it . . . it just didn't work. Here is a scarf I started last night. It is about half way finished. I am using two strands of a soft acrylic and one of mohair. I was reading this book about big knits and it talks about how to combine yarns together to use as a thick yarn. I am loving it! I really enjoy things that knit up quickly.

Ok, gotta go make mothers day presents. Hopefully I will have some pretty pictures to show next week!

Making softies

I have been sewing softies. It is very exciting. I have been making things for many different purposes.

A tree that I made just because I wanted to and because my sister likes trees.

A Tanooki Mario (I didn't even know what a Tanooki Mario was until a few days ago) made for my other sister to give as a present to her friend.

He is not quite finished yet, no ears and pins in his limbs, but I was so excited that he actually looked how I thought he should I am posting him now.

Yet another view of the Tanooki Mario. I have also done some prettier softies.

A little bird and . . .

. . . a little duck. I have been so busy at the moment, so where did all this softie making time come from? I have no idea. I guess the more you do, the more you can do! I am having lots of fun at the moment with school stuff. I am going to be making paper dolls! I can't wait to start but I also have many other things I can't wait to start, so I need a plan. Oh, well. Off to sew.
