I love buttons!

Do not be deceived. I own more buttons than this. The box above is just a special collection of buttons. I love to get these out and play with them. Things sorted by colour are just so exciting. I have decided to sort my fabric by colour. I have never done this before and I believe it will be a very large job. I think I need a day or two of doing nothing else. Maybe then I will have some lovely sorted by colour fabric to show. Hopefully this might inspire me to use a little more of it!

My addiction

I have been playing around and spinning all sorts of different things together. The picture above is some of the results. As I was sorting out my fabric the other day I started to think of spinning fabric. We will see how I go.

More spinning and some dyeing

I have been spinning, but not only spinning but dyeing yarn as well! My final project at school is going to be a 3D landscape made with spun and dyed yarn, knitting, felting, fulling, bobbin lace, tatting, etc. It's so exciting! I am making samples at the moment. If anyone has any other good ideas of how I can create texture using different techniques, let me know!

Aside from that we are completely re-arranging our house at the moment. We decided we didn't have enough storage and are fixing that. Its not all done yet as I am busy with lots of other things, so its sort of half done. My sewing room is trashed, but its all ok. I am going to a friends house for a craft day. Don't you just love craft days! All you need is your current project, a bunch of crafty friends and some baked goods.

This is what I made for today. They both have chocolate chips in them as requested by my bloke. He said if I was making some for a craft day I should replenish our biscuit container at the same time. I made choc chip biscuits and choc orange muffins. Both made up as I went along because I couldn't concentrate on the recipe books long enough to choose. Hopefully I shan't poison anyone.

Handing up work!

I handed up two folders yesterday! I love it when I don't have to worry about them any more. Now I want to do some fun sewing just for me. I haven't decided what that is yet but hopefully inspiration will hit me.

These two pictures are of stuff from my dyeing folder (the one not handed up yet). I dyed heaps of lace and fabric. I loved folding and tying the fabric to get different patterns. As much as I love the outcome of the dyeing, I am well and truly sick of it. The second pic is of pouches with all different kinds of pockets. I love little pouches!

This is another project not quite finished using my dyed fabrics. It is a tree (I hope you could tell) that I am making like a stained glass window. I am sure there are specific ways you are supposed to make a quilt like this but I am just making it up as I go along. So far I have cut out the sections and zigzagged them down and now I am making metres and metres of black bias binding. Why you ask don't I just buy pre-made bias binding? Because I am crazy, that's why.

This is a bag I made for my embellishment folder (this one is

Two little zippy pouches I made for embellishment. I love to make pouches that look like stuff. The fish and the bird are my current favourites.

This little family are from my image transfer folder. They are unfinished in these pics but are now done and handed up. I printed the colour onto calico on my printer and then gel mediumed the lines over to creat more texture and depth. I sewed their backs on and stuffed and weighted them. They are a little like babushka's and a little like bowling pins. I really like how they turned out and can't wait for them to come back and find somewhere to live at my house.

To some Harry Potter -ness. We had a Harry Potter party. It was good fun. I made a bunch of Harry Potter things for the party, some of which we used and some we didn't. One of the things we didn't end up using was my Daily Prophet. I tried to make it as close to the one in the movie as possible. I was going to post it on my blog so anyone interested could save a copy and use it for their own Harry Potter -ness, but I am not that clever. If anyone would like it I made it in publisher and could send you a template so you could fill it with your own exciting news stories. I also made a Marauders map inspired by this one made by Britta. Mine isn't as lovely as hers but it was a hit at the party.
