Handing up work!

I handed up two folders yesterday! I love it when I don't have to worry about them any more. Now I want to do some fun sewing just for me. I haven't decided what that is yet but hopefully inspiration will hit me.

These two pictures are of stuff from my dyeing folder (the one not handed up yet). I dyed heaps of lace and fabric. I loved folding and tying the fabric to get different patterns. As much as I love the outcome of the dyeing, I am well and truly sick of it. The second pic is of pouches with all different kinds of pockets. I love little pouches!

This is another project not quite finished using my dyed fabrics. It is a tree (I hope you could tell) that I am making like a stained glass window. I am sure there are specific ways you are supposed to make a quilt like this but I am just making it up as I go along. So far I have cut out the sections and zigzagged them down and now I am making metres and metres of black bias binding. Why you ask don't I just buy pre-made bias binding? Because I am crazy, that's why.

This is a bag I made for my embellishment folder (this one is

Two little zippy pouches I made for embellishment. I love to make pouches that look like stuff. The fish and the bird are my current favourites.

This little family are from my image transfer folder. They are unfinished in these pics but are now done and handed up. I printed the colour onto calico on my printer and then gel mediumed the lines over to creat more texture and depth. I sewed their backs on and stuffed and weighted them. They are a little like babushka's and a little like bowling pins. I really like how they turned out and can't wait for them to come back and find somewhere to live at my house.

To some Harry Potter -ness. We had a Harry Potter party. It was good fun. I made a bunch of Harry Potter things for the party, some of which we used and some we didn't. One of the things we didn't end up using was my Daily Prophet. I tried to make it as close to the one in the movie as possible. I was going to post it on my blog so anyone interested could save a copy and use it for their own Harry Potter -ness, but I am not that clever. If anyone would like it I made it in publisher and could send you a template so you could fill it with your own exciting news stories. I also made a Marauders map inspired by this one made by Britta. Mine isn't as lovely as hers but it was a hit at the party.

I too finished reading the HP book. Wasnt it great, and I was so sad to see some of those characters end their time in the book. I will always hold out hope that the characters in the last paragraph may have some future stories too. Love the tree quilt, and I am sure it will look great when you have added all the black bias binding to it too.

Loved the dyeing. We're planning on dyeing some sock wool as soon as it gets here from the Bendigo wool mills. So now I know who to get some advice from. ( I know you're sick of it all already - sorry).
And the embellishment peoples (?) are sooo cute.
see ya soon
