More sewing

I sewed bib! It turned out more wobbly than I would like, but I am sure that can be fixed by using flannel for the next ones. I have also cut out more tshirts but am still yet to sew them.

Far too hot for sewing.

The past few days it has been far too hot for sewing. I did escape to my mum's house (its cooler there) and did some cutting out, but I am yet to sew anything to completion. Its the iron. I can't bear to turn the iron on. I think of it as a little heater in winter, so in summer it just doesn't make sense. When I was a much younger sewer I would have made things without the iron and not cared too much, but luckily my mother has trained me well and I am a grown up sewer now who can change the colour of her thread, iron as she goes and pre-wash cotton fabrics!

I did sew up the booties I finished knitting. That was pretty exciting. I am now knitting some gorgeous overalls. They will take a little longer to make. I sewed up a polar fleece version and boy were they quick (no need to iron!). No pictures of them yet cause there are still a couple of pins in them where I need to do some hand sewing.

There is a cool change coming today, so I have opened the windows up and I am hoping for a breeze. Maybe then I can turn the iron on.

I sewed something!

How amazing is that. No sewing for such a long time, and today I am back at it. I have been feeling a little better over the past week and have found I have 'good time' in the middle of the day. I have been thinking I should make myself some preggy clothes (as I don't really fit into anything any more) and have traced some patterns out today. After a while my back started to hurt and I realised that I wouldn't be able to sew because I hadn't acquired any fabric yet. Of course I have fabric already for my baby so I made a little skivvy (instead of tracing out more clothes for me). The clothes for me are more urgent but the baby clothes are so quick and fun! I got given an over locker last year from my mother-in-law and I hadn't used it until today.

Not the most thrilling little top ever, but I am happy with it and I LOVE the fabric. Even before I thought this baby was a boy I bought all blue and green fabric to make clothes with. I think they are just the best colours.

Here it is a bit closer (don't look too close). I have also been knitting booties. They are finished in the sense that I cast off but not yet sewn up. Hopefully I will sew them up soon and have more creations to share!

There really is a baby in there!

I know its silly, but I have been thinking that I might not be pregnant after all. Maybe I'm feeling this sick for another reason. Here is my proof that its really a baby and not extra fat beginning to accumulate around my middle.

I went for an ultrasound and saw my little baby moving around. It was pretty exciting. I have been told its not the done thing to announce your baby's sex before its born, but I am weird. In the first few seconds of the scan I could tell he was a little boy. Its really nice to be able to call the baby him and not it. It feels more like there is a person growing inside me. Anyway, I am still feeling really sick most of the time and I haven't been sewing at all. I am having "good" days every now and then (only feel really sick in the morning and evening with a few good hours in the middle of the day), so I hope they become more frequent. I might even be able to show off something for baby soon, you never know!
