Sitting at the sewing machine

Today was the first time I sat down to sew at my house since the boy was born. I have sewn other places with dozens of energetic babysitters to entertain him, but never on my own. Early in the day I sewed some nappy stuff which got used and missed the photo shoot. Later in the day I made this sun hat.

I used some of the fabric I bought at the Patchwork Apple a few weeks ago. It was easy to make (even with a baby in a sling on my lap) and looks cute. The best thing is it fits! I have been trying to buy a hat for few weeks now and it just wasn't happening. After a couple of minutes on the net I found this great pattern and about 30 minutes making time and it was done. Sewing makes me feel clever!

Another thrilling thing to tell you is I started knitting that jacket! I found some yarn suitable in my stash, so I didn't have to wait for a trip to the shops. Its not too bad so far. Its a bit stretched looking at the sides of the cables which I have no clue on how to fix. If I can work it out I might have to frogg it and start again.

That hat is so cute and will look gorgeous on that baby of yours....nice it. Isn't it good when you make something quickly and it works out so well. About the knitting have you tried knitting into the back of the stitch at the end of each row...I have found that works sometimes. GOOD LUCK!!!!
