Making pizza

We have been thinking about making pizza for a while now (my small children and I) and today we finally did it! The chaos of pizza making is fabulous, and after it all you have dinner!

No seams!

I have recently finished knitting this little cardi for little miss 1. It was knit all in one piece with the sleeves finished in the round. Oh how I love not to sew up seams. All it needs now is some ends sewn in and some pretty buttons!

Yarn in the mail!

My mother-in-law gave me a gift voucher for Skein for my birthday and my order arrived in the post this week! I got four skeins of Worsted MCN in Sunlight. It looks so good and feels even better! I am super excited to knit it up. Now I just have to finish a couple of things off and decide what I want to turn it into.

Alphabet cookie cutters

I have always wanted alphabet cookie cutters. I think I had a sesame street book when I was small which had a recipe for them and always wanted to make some. Recently we acquired some and these here are our first attempt! Not perfect (someone occidentally put self-raising flour in instead of plain - whoops) but they were yummy and we are keen for our next batch. Much fun and bowl licking was had by all!

Making at our house

We just can't get enough of cutting and gluing at our house, and since I organised the art cupboard (yes, I really did it!) it has been so much easier. Mr 4 and Miss 2 made a whole bunch of puppet people with a little help from mum, but little Miss 1 mostly sucked and chewed on things. I love to hear the happy noises of playing rather the screaming we get here sometimes. So much fun being had.

I am a knitter

I really like knitting, but recently it has occurred to me. I am a knitter! Not saying I am a perfect knitter or that I can knit anything, but I am a knitter. For such a long time now it has really been my favourite and most relaxing past time, and it's productive too (just love being productive)! I have recently finished jumpers for my kids and a hat a booties for my cousins new baby and I have a cardigan for me and one for my littlest on the needles. The funny thing is I am finishing things! Articles I have knitted are getting worn and washed and worn again. It's a pretty good feeling. I get that same feeling when my kids wear clothes I sew or use quilts I make, but it is just more with knitting. I have been thinking more and more about getting my spinning wheel out and set up again. Once I have got our art cupboard organised of course.

A disaster and a triumph!

Being a mother of many children and also someone who likes to have everything with her 'just in case' my bag is a big deal to me. I like it to be pretty but I NEED it to be functional. As I can never find the perfect bag I have to get a new one every 2-6 months which is really not so good. My most recent purchase was a complete failure and has been driving me insane for a while now. I was rescued by my son not closing a drink bottle before he put it away and after I noticed the water pouring out of the bottom of my bag I declared it ruined and decided to make myself a new one. It must have been a fluke, but my new bag has turned out really well and so far I love it! I still need to make a series of small pouches in coordinating colours to live inside (first aid, snacks, nappies, etc) so everything is easier to find but I can see it all working. Don't you just love it when something works first go!

The rotary telephone fairy . . .

. . . visited our house today! My brother Joe loves all things retro and has been collecting old phones for a while now. He has recently opened en Etsy shop with some very pretty phones in it. He came to play today and brought a present of play phones! I was thrilled, and my kids were pretty happy too. We have been having lots of fun ringing each other and there have only been a few whacks to the head with a receiver. For some reason blogger wants the photo this way, which is a little disconcerting but it gives you an idea. If I ever have a landline again I am so getting one of these. Probably a green or red one!
