Pretty things in my kitchen make me happy.

Over the past few weeks I have been doing some scissor training with my small girls. They have both only just become really interested in scissors in a non 'waving around like a crazy person' sort of way. Daisy (3 1/2) became proficient fairly quickly, although there is still a little bit of the crazy person in her. Enid (2) took a little longer but is now concentrating and making the most lovely little cuts all round an A4 piece of paper. It makes me happy to watch her making.

. . . is such a hard and terrible thing. The physical work of it. The emotional work. The worry. The stress. The effect it has on your other children. The isolation. The judgement from others. The dismissal from others. It changes how you do EVERYTHING. And yet, my boy is so wonderful. He is so loving and creative. So determined and capable in so many ways. It is so easy to forget and get caught up in every day survival. This picture is one of my favourites. My brother took it, and it helps me to remember how great my boy is.
